The route, honestly explained

Šibenik is the Dalmatian city travellers keep discovering late: a fortress town at the mouth of the Krka river, with a cathedral assembled from interlocking stone slabs and no mortar at all. It is about 50 minutes from Split Airport and an hour from Zadar’s, which makes it an easy first or last stop. It is also the natural base for Krka National Park — Skradin, where the park boats leave from, is fifteen minutes further on, and the waterfalls there need far less walking than Plitvice.

Routes and journey times

Route Typical time Good to know
SPU → Šibenik ~50 min Motorway most of the way; old town drop-off
ZAD → Šibenik ~1 h The alternative airport, useful for northern flights
Šibenik → Skradin (Krka park boats) ~15 min The low-effort route into the falls
SPU → Vodice ~55 min Resorts and marina north of the city
SPU → Primošten ~40 min The vineyard peninsula south of Šibenik
Šibenik → Split old town ~50 min Day trips in either direction

Local knowledge

Krka rewards an early start for a specific reason: the boat from Skradin runs to a schedule and fills, and the Skradinski Buk boardwalk is one-way. Go first thing and the falls are quiet; arrive at midday in August and you queue twice. In Šibenik itself, the two fortresses above the old town — St Michael’s and Barone — are a steep but short climb, and St Michael’s doubles as a concert venue on summer evenings.

Frequently asked questions

How long from Split Airport to Šibenik?

About 50 minutes for roughly 60 km, mostly on the A1 motorway.

Is Šibenik a good base for Krka National Park?

The best one. Skradin, where the park boats depart, is only about 15 minutes from the city.

Krka or Plitvice?

Krka is far easier to reach from the coast and needs much less walking; Plitvice is bigger and more spectacular. Many guests do Krka on an arrival or departure day and Plitvice as a full day trip.

Do you serve Vodice and Primošten?

Yes — both are short runs from Šibenik and under an hour from Split Airport.

Can we stop at Krka on the way from the airport?

Yes, that is a popular arrangement: the driver waits with the luggage while you visit, then continues to your accommodation.

What Our Passengers Say

Nine journeys, nine happy passengers — from midnight landings to island ferry connections.

We landed at Split just before midnight and the driver was right there in the hall with a sign, car already cold outside. After a delayed flight and two hours on the tarmac, that calm ride into town was worth every cent.

Sarah M., London

Dubrovnik's old town is all steps and no cars, which I had not thought about. Our driver got us as close as the rules allow and carried both cases to the apartment door. Small thing, enormous difference.

Ingrid S., Oslo

Two kids, four suitcases, Split Airport to Makarska. Child seats fitted without being asked twice, cold water in the door, and the driver stopped for ten minutes when our youngest went green on the coast road.

Emma & Tom R., Dublin

Our flight into Split was an hour late and I was sure we had lost the Hvar catamaran. They had already moved us to the next sailing and the driver was waiting. Nobody panicked except me.

Marco V., Milan

Booked a full day to Plitvice from Zagreb. He dropped us at the right entrance for our ticket, waited four hours with the luggage, and had the car cool when we came out. Far better than the coach.

Anna K., Berlin

Our wedding party moved between the church and two venues near Trogir in an S-Class and a V-Class. Everything on time, everyone unwrinkled in the August heat. Flawless.

Nina & Lars H., Bergen

Dubrovnik to Split with stops at Ston for the walls and the oysters. Since the new bridge there is no border queue at all, and the driver knew exactly where to pull in. The best day of the trip.

Sophie D., Paris

I use them for every business trip to Zagreb. Same driver most visits, invoices without asking, and a fixed price that ignores the morning traffic on the airport road. Effortless.

Peter W., New York

I book them for my parents whenever they fly. The driver meets them inside the terminal, carries everything and drives gently. My mother now refuses to travel any other way.

Ivana P., Zadar
