The route, honestly explained

Split Airport sits at Resnik, between Kaštela and Trogir, about 24 km from the Riva. In the shoulder months that is a comfortable 30 minutes; in the second half of July it can stretch past 45 as the Trogir bottleneck fills with hire cars. Either way your price does not move. The alternative is the airport bus to the Sukoišan terminal — cheap, but it drops you a good walk from most old-town apartments, which is a poor start when you are hauling a suitcase over Diocletian-era flagstones in 33-degree heat.

Routes and journey times

Route Typical time Good to know
SPU → Split old town / Riva 30–35 min The most-booked route; drop-off as close as the pedestrian zone allows
SPU → Split ferry & catamaran port 30–35 min Timed to your sailing for Hvar, Brač, Vis or Korčula
SPU → Trogir ~10 min The airport is closer to Trogir than to Split — see our Trogir page
SPU → Makarska Riviera ~1 h 15 Brela, Baška Voda, Makarska and Tučepi
SPU → Šibenik / Krka ~50 min Also the gateway to Skradin and the waterfalls
SPU → Dubrovnik ~3 h 15 Border-free over the Pelješac bridge; see our Dubrovnik–Split page

Local knowledge

Split rewards travellers who drop their bags fast. Ask the driver to take the Solin approach if you are curious — the ruins of Salona sit right beside the road, and it costs nothing. If you are catching a morning catamaran to Hvar the following day, book the return leg at the same time: the port is a ten-minute walk from the old town but a nightmare to reach by car during the summer boarding rush.

What every transfer includes

  • Meet & greet — name sign inside arrivals, luggage handled, air conditioning already running.
  • Fixed price — quoted before you travel; tolls, waiting time and luggage included.
  • Flight tracking — early or late, your driver adjusts automatically, with 60 minutes of free waiting.
  • Luxury Mercedes — sedans for up to three, V-Class vans for seven, Sprinter minibuses for sixteen.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Split Airport from the city centre?

About 24 km. A private transfer takes 30–35 minutes outside peak season, a little longer in late July and August when traffic backs up around Trogir.

Where does the driver meet me at SPU?

Inside the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name. Split has one terminal, so there is nothing to find and nowhere to get lost.

Can you take us straight to the ferry port?

Yes, and we recommend it. Tell us your sailing time when you book and we work the pick-up backwards from it, including a buffer for the summer traffic.

Do you cover the islands?

We drive you to the port and, where a car ferry makes sense, we can continue onto Brač, Hvar or Korčula. Tell us the final address and we will quote the whole door-to-door journey.

Is a transfer worth it for two people?

Compared with the bus plus a taxi at the far end, usually yes once luggage is involved — and the price is fixed whether the road is clear or not.

What Our Passengers Say

Nine journeys, nine happy passengers — from midnight landings to island ferry connections.

We landed at Split just before midnight and the driver was right there in the hall with a sign, car already cold outside. After a delayed flight and two hours on the tarmac, that calm ride into town was worth every cent.

Sarah M., London

Dubrovnik's old town is all steps and no cars, which I had not thought about. Our driver got us as close as the rules allow and carried both cases to the apartment door. Small thing, enormous difference.

Ingrid S., Oslo

Two kids, four suitcases, Split Airport to Makarska. Child seats fitted without being asked twice, cold water in the door, and the driver stopped for ten minutes when our youngest went green on the coast road.

Emma & Tom R., Dublin

Our flight into Split was an hour late and I was sure we had lost the Hvar catamaran. They had already moved us to the next sailing and the driver was waiting. Nobody panicked except me.

Marco V., Milan

Booked a full day to Plitvice from Zagreb. He dropped us at the right entrance for our ticket, waited four hours with the luggage, and had the car cool when we came out. Far better than the coach.

Anna K., Berlin

Our wedding party moved between the church and two venues near Trogir in an S-Class and a V-Class. Everything on time, everyone unwrinkled in the August heat. Flawless.

Nina & Lars H., Bergen

Dubrovnik to Split with stops at Ston for the walls and the oysters. Since the new bridge there is no border queue at all, and the driver knew exactly where to pull in. The best day of the trip.

Sophie D., Paris

I use them for every business trip to Zagreb. Same driver most visits, invoices without asking, and a fixed price that ignores the morning traffic on the airport road. Effortless.

Peter W., New York

I book them for my parents whenever they fly. The driver meets them inside the terminal, carries everything and drives gently. My mother now refuses to travel any other way.

Ivana P., Zadar
